Aquarius Fashion is a dream that was built in 2005 by Katya Newman. Originally from Philadelphia, PA she attended a year of college at Penn State University. She moved to San Francisco after deciding that she wanted to move out west to continue her education.

When she arrived in San Francisco, she tried her hand at becoming a Street Artist, since she knew how to macramé hemp jewelry and wire wrap stones. She obtained a license through the Art Commission, and set up a booth downtown on Market Street.

That is where she met her husband who was also a street artist. He was a painter and sculptor, making sculptures out of coat hanger wire. He taught her how to make some of the sculptures that he had designed, and she came up with some of her own. She decorated the sculptures with stones and beads, which complemented both of their styles. She taught him how to make rings which had been her best seller, so they were able to go into business together.

After his passing, she decided to start a new business, which is Aquarius Fashion. After 15 years in San Francisco, she moved north to Eureka to continue her education, which is where she now resides with her partner and two children. She is currently a student at College of the Redwoods studying for a Studio Art degree. So far she has taken classes for drawing, color and design, painting, ceramics, English, and Professional Practices where she designed this website. She is interested in improving her craft and exploring different ways to express herself in as many different mediums as possible.

Additionally to the college classes, she has attended classes at the Fire Arts Center in Arcata to perfect her ceramics. She now has a wheel for throwing pottery at home, and plans on continuing the classes at Fire Arts Center and College of the Redwoods in the future.

Some places that have exhibited her work are Rustic West Trading Co. and Here and There located in Eureka, CA. Her work is playful and cheerful and she fully enjoys the time that she spends on the various projects which she finds calming and nurturing for the spirit.
